His father Bharat Ram His father was a {Edited by:B.D.Gogia|After his graduation he joined DCM in 1935 as apprentice to his father Sir Shri Ram (who was then Chairman of the Board of Directors)became Director in 1944 and Chairman of the Board in 1958. (He was not Mg.Director) 0n abolition of the system of Managing Agency in April 1970 he became one of the Managing Directors along with his brother Lala Charat Ram. He was President of the Indian Cotton Mills Federation Bombay during 1962-64 and President of FICCI during 1963-64. In 1965 he became the President of the International Chamber of Commerce Paris being the first Asian (outside Japan) to achieve this rare honour.
