Juan Quezada Celado Mexican potter

Hi. Not sure the exact year, probably somewhere 1979-1981. I was taking an anthropology class at New Mexico State at Alamogordo. The instructor sent me and my friend and classmate to Mata Ortiz to deliver 200lbs of clay to Juan Quesada. We drove there in a somewhat broken down British Spitfire. We didn’t know anything about him. We spoke broken Spanish between the two of us. After arriving we knocked on the door of a few houses looking for someone that could tell us how to find him. We followed a couple of guys about a mile into the desert at about 11 PM, to his house. He woke up everyone in the house, even the little kids. We stayed there about 4 days i guess. He showed us how to make and fire a pot. Had to talk him into selling me a pot, for $100. He did, only because it had a small burn spot on the bottom. I still have the little mold we used to build up the pot. We didn’t find out until our last day there, who he was. He brought out magazine articles about his work. We were speechless. Last i heard from my friend Debbie, many many years ago, she was in Canada teaching at a university.
